~It was a crisp fall day when Adam went out to go camping.  He had been planning this trip for weeks.  He loved to go out into the wilderness away from the busyness of everyday life.  He had a three day weekend break from school, and wanted to take advantage of it.

He loaded up his car, and before he knew it he arrived at the camp site.  Backpack in tow he hiked for a good hour and a half before reaching his desired site. First he set up the tent, and after he was satisfied he set up a make shift fire pit.  'Guess I need to find some firewood' he thought to himself.  After getting a good stack he sat down, and allowed himself to enjoy the blissful sounds on nature.  Bird watching was also fun.  He was personally fond of spotting the native birds, and their calls.

Soon dusk started to fall, and he began to assemble the fire.  He managed to get a good enough blaze before night had fully fallen.

First night of camping was always hot dogs on a stick followed by smores it was just tradition.  His dad always did this when he was a kid.  As the hotdogs cooked over the fire he stared up at the sky.  Aside from the trees it was so dark and clear he could make out the Milky way, and many constellations.

'Ah, this is the good life' he thought to himself.  All this action works up an appetite as well.  He pulled the hot dog away, and put it on a paper plate.  He had to wait a minute for it to cool so he continued just looking up.

Soon something caught his attention.  It sounded like a type of whimpering, but not from an animal he recognized.  From many years of camping he felt very familiar hearing the chipmunks, squirrels, and other woodland creatures, but this was different.  He just had to try to see what it was.

Reaching into his pack he grabbed his flashlight, and set out.  The nearly full moon made it easy enough to see in the dark, but he wanted to have it on hand just in case.  He walked a few feet following the sound.  Every once in a while closing his eyes so he could focus on it more.  It was just so faint, but somehow he was able to follow it.

He looked down, and could see something struggling on the ground.  He got to his knees about 2 feet away as to not scare it off.  Whatever it was continued to whimper and cry.  It sounded almost human. 'How can that be?' he thought.  He just had to get a better look.

He turned on his flashlight and to his surprise found a tiny girl trapped in the roots of a nearby tree.
~~~
'No! This can't be happening. This has to be a dream. Yeah, a dream. I'm still asleep in my dorm in California.'
That was the first thought she had when she woke up two days prior, but reality slapped her in the face like a very unwelcome friend. Her environment wasn't normal to her. Was she even on Earth anymore? Dominique looked around to see all this behemoth scaled trees and woods and everything huge compared to her.
Shock ran through her system and her breath begin racing in fear. She didn't know what going on and it just freaked her out. She had always been known to have a love of outdoors and a green thumb, but this was insane! The animals must have been huge and hearing a bird nearby compelled her to run. She didn't know where; she just needed to run.
Dominique fought for her life through torturous rain and bugs and birds. She looked like a mess, getting dirtier and dirtier by the day. She was scared and hungry and wondering what the hell was going on or where was she? Was she even going to survive?
She had just escaped from the eye of a gargantuan raccoon when she stumbled down hill, her already tender skin beginning to bruise. She attempted to stop herself and it worked, for an agonizing price. She crashed into a bunch of thick tree roots, some of the roots breaking and trapping parts of her body inside. Her ankle was throbbing with pain.
The stiff pain ricocheting all through her muscles combined with the electric fire burning from her leg was enough to have a verbal reaction escaping from her lips. Tears were shedding down her dirty cheeks and moans of pain followed. She thought she was going to die without anyone in her life knowing what happened to her.
Suddenly, she felt faint earthquakes that grow louder and closer by the second. It scared to not know what coming. She tried to get out of the roots but she wasn't going anywhere. Fear and adrenaline ran through her veins hearing how close it was getting, whimpers of fear and pain and frustration coming out of her mouth. She just wanted to go home.
Her heart nearly stopped as this bright blinding light filled her sight and she tried to struggle even more, but she was growing weaker and weaker, from lack of food. She was scared and tired and she couldn't stay awake long enough to see what the creature that shined the bright light was.
~~~
Not long after he shined the flashlight on the little creature did it go limp.  He leaned in closer to get a better look.  His jaw dropped from sheer shock. It was indeed a little girl.  Not young per-say. At a guess late teens, but she couldn't have been more than four inches tall.  He hovered over her studying her features.  She had long brown hair, and fair skin.

'How can this be' he thought to himself.  'Could she be a forest sprite or something? I thought that was just legend.'  He studied her, and saw that she was barefoot, but had clothes on that looked like human clothes.  A smudgy brown camisole tank top, and some tan cargo pants.  These certainly didn't look hand made.

He was supporting himself on his hand as he was kneeling down.  He put the flashlight in his mouth to free up his other hand.  He reached down to touch her, he hesitated though when he noticed she was all bruised up, and dirty.  Her ankle was trapped in the roots, and pretty bruised as well.

'I'm not sure if I'll be able to just pull her out of here.  She's tangled in pretty good. '  He shifted his weight so he was just on one knee, and now both hands were free.  He gradually pulled the roots apart enough that she was no longer stuck.

He felt bad for the girl.  She looked so frail, and yet she was out here all alone.  Bruised up to boot, and now unconscious. 'I can't just leave her hear, she might not make it through the night.' he thought.

He reached down to pick her up, but he didn't expect her to feel this way.  The flashlight fell from his mouth landing at his feet.  She was so soft, and her body gave so easily as he lifted her up.  She was warmer than the ground, but still cool to the touch.  He secured her in a lying position in his left hand, and he retrieved the flashlight with the other.  A faint blue to her lips confirmed that she was too cold.

'I've got to warm her up'.  He brought her to his chest, and headed back to the camp site.  The campfire guided him right back even though he wasn't far.  Flashlight stowed in his pocket he sat down by the fire again.  He could feel the warmth of the fire, and was sure it would warm up the girl.  He placed her in his lap, and reheated the hot dog over the fire.

He was about to eat it when he looked down. 'I can't just eat over her.  This just feels too weird.' He picked her up, and went to his tent. It was small, only a one sleeper.  Maybe two if you were fine practically breathing on the other person as you slept.

He already had his sleeping bag set up, but instead got his spare pillow, and placed her on that.  He usually has a spare little pillow that he keeps between his knees when he sleeps, but doesn't always use it.  He set up the pillow near the head of his sleeping bag, and placed a spare hand towel on top of her as a blanket.

She had warmed up nicely from the fire, and he was sure she would be fine under the towel for a little bit.  He walked back to the fire, and finished his hot dog.  He wanted to make smores, but his main focus was on the little girl now asleep in his tent.  Promptly he put out the fire, and took one last look at the starry sky.

After a few minutes he took a deep breath, and went back to the tent.  The little girl hadn't moved an inch, and her lips were no longer blue.  He zipped up the tent, and got ready to go to bed.  He settled into the sleeping bag looking at the girl.  Her tiny features, and her chest slightly raising with each breath.   He was positively fascinated with her.  Alas he didn't get much sleep the night before.  He was too busy preparing for his trip.  Soon his eyelids grew heavy, and he fell asleep.
~~~
Her slumbering mind begin stirring. She was warm and comfortable, only waking up faster than she realized she wasn't supposed to be. She felt this warm breeze against her back. Her stubborn eyes opened immediately, her vision somewhat blurry. She could still see she was in a different place through her fuzziness, a world of blue around her. Every blink made her sight clearer and sharper and that made her nerves begin to spike.
~~~
She could still feel the breeze and it was consistent, like breathing and that didn't make her feel any better. Ever so slowly, she turned her head and scrambled back from the sight. A giant! A giant man! She inhaled sharply as she sat up, her muscles and sores ached like hell as she tried to drag herself away, only to fall off the huge pillow and land roughly on the ground on her back. Her head hit the ground too.

She let out a groan of pain from both her back and the headache was beginning to develop. She was scared and in pain; what else could go wrong? She tried to stand up, but the moment she put any pressure on her bad foot, she fell back down with a painful cry in reaction. She didn't mean for it to be loud, but her damn singer lungs cause the sound to echo. Her eyes immediately glued to the sleeping giant, praying to God he wouldn't wake up.
~~~
Hearing a cry of some sort he slowly open his eyes. the blue tint of the tent illuminating the inside.  His mind was foggy, but wondered where that scream had come from.  A few blinks later he could make out the pillow in front of him with the towel on it. He had remembered the night before, and the little girl who was supposed to be up there.
He got up so he was resting his weight on his elbow.  He spotted her on the ground with her eyes locked on his.  She was absolutely terrified.  He tried to open his mouth to speak, but he just couldn't get anything out.  His eyes remained locked on hers as he tries to think of what to say.
~~~
Her shaky breath sharpened as he spotted her as she tried to drag herself away. He wasn't doing anything but staring at her and it scared her out of her pants. Blue locked with blue as she was desperate to get away. Her head hurt pretty bad for the fall and her headache was beginning to worsen. She put a hand to her head and shut her eyes from the migraine, slightly curling into a ball to attempt to stop the pounding.

'This can't be happening,' Dominique whined in her. 'What did I do to deserve this nightmare?'
~~~
Looking down he could see she was absolutely frozen in fear.  She then grabbed her head, and looked like she was in quite a bit of pain.  She continued to cower into a ball.
Adam licked his lips, and quietly asked “Are you alright?”  It took all he had to resist touching her to comfort her in some way.
~~~
"I-I d-don't know wh-what's happening. I d-don't k-know where I-I am,' she stuttered in a whispered cry.

She curled in tighter as she stammered, "M-My head hurts."
~~
The girl in font of him was confused, and said her head hurt.  He did his best to stay calm, but he was nervous since he didn't want to scare her more.

“My name is Adam, I found you in the forest. Do you think you hit your head? Can I do anything to help you?” He tried to say as softly as he could while also being short, and to the point.  But he was unsure about what he could do to help her. Any medicine wouldn't be for her size, and he lacked many other things out here in the woods.
~~~
"I h-hit my head f-falling off the p-pillow. I-I've had hea-headaches like th-this before. I-It'll pass," she responded softly, still trying to calm herself down, but there was so much unknown in her head. It was hard. She was at least able to register his introduction. "D-Dominique, my n-name is Dominique."
She felt a chill and she begun trembling for different reasons, "P-Please, where am I? Am I even still on Earth anymore?"
“This is certainly Earth.  We're just outside of Freeport, Maine at a camp site.  Nice to meet you Dominique” he said with a smile.  “I'm sorry your so uncomfortable, you sure I can't help?”
He was concerned about her, but she seemed to be coming around.
~~~
She uncurled herself in a panic and gazed at him in shock, forgetting about her headache for just a moment, "Maine! I was in college in California! How did I end up on the opposite side of the country the size of a fast food toy?!"

She sat up, covering her mouth with her hand and tears just beginning to fall as she looked away from him. She felt her heart breaking into a thousand pieces at the thought of her future being ruined just like that. She was scared and just feeling her headache remind her of her pain.
~~~
“California?” He said surprised. “And this isn't your normal size?”  This girl was thousands of miles away from home, and understandably having a mental break down.  He tried to think of anything he could do to help her, but came up short.
“What's the last thing you remember?” He asked her with great concern.
~~~
"The last thing I-I remember," she basically repeated, trying to think through her headache as she removed her hand to wipe away her tears. "Was falling asleep in m-my dorm after I-I went through the worst b-blind date I've e-ever had."
~~~
Adam took a deep breath.  “Well I found you here in the woods stuck in roots of a tree.  On top of that your quite bruised up. You don't remember anything about that?”
This girl doesn't remember anything, and I don't think I'd be able to get her back to CA easily.  Adam took his free hand, and rubbed the back of his neck.  He thought to himself 'boy, what did I just get myself into.'
Looking at the girl she was still disheveled, and he felt the need to protect her. Still this wasn't going to be an easy task.
~~~
"It was my last memory normal sized, I guess," she clarified, resting her back against the tent wall, rubbing her index and her middle fingers against her temple to help sooth her migraine. Her mouth was dry and her stomach was completely empty. It was making her feel weak. "I woke up in the woods two days ago. I stumbled and fell downhill into the root. I thought I was going to die out there."
